Let Freedom Ring! Event Draws Near

What to Expect from the Celebration on the Square

Sumner County’s Let Freedom Ring on the Square celebration is approaching, bringing music, history, food, family activities, and a patriotic drone show to Gallatin’s Public Square.

Story

Let Freedom Ring on the Square is fast approaching, and the celebration is shaping up to be one of the signature community gatherings of Sumner County’s America 250 commemoration.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, residents and visitors are invited to gather on Gallatin’s Public Square from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM for an evening centered on the Declaration of Independence, the spirit of 1776, and the local stories that connect Sumner County to the nation’s founding.

Guests can expect a patriotic ceremony, live music, food trucks, booths, giveaways, family activities, and history on display throughout the evening. The event will also include the unveiling of the new General Jethro Sumner monument, honoring the Revolutionary War figure for whom Sumner County is named.

The evening is planned as a free community event for all ages. Families are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, enjoy the Square, visit participating booths, and stay for the grand finale: a patriotic drone show over downtown Gallatin.

As America’s 250th birthday approaches, Let Freedom Ring on the Square offers a chance to celebrate not only the nation’s founding, but also Sumner County’s place in that larger American story.
